UIL Competition

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is an organization dedicated to supporting and fostering student achievement in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities, including athletics, music, and academic competitions. For students involved in media and journalism, UIL provides a platform to compete and showcase their talents in various fields such as broadcasting, journalism, and filmmaking. These competitions offer students valuable opportunities to develop critical skills that are not only vital in media production but also transferable to many other career paths.

Students involved in Brahma Video Productions (BVP) have the opportunity to showcase their skills in a variety of UIL and ILPC (Interscholastic League Press Conference) competitions. These contests offer categories ranging from general news stories and sports coverage to multimedia packages and podcasting. Participants are able to enter in different areas of broadcasting and online journalism, honing their talents while competing for awards at district, regional, and state levels. In addition, students can participate in the UIL Film Festival, where they create original films in categories such as Narrative, Documentary, Animation, and Digital Animation. This competition encourages creativity and technical excellence, giving students hands-on experience in filmmaking and a platform to exhibit their storytelling abilities. These events provide invaluable opportunities for students to develop skills in media production, teamwork, and technical proficiency.
